GCEF's Fall Appeal kicks off today!

We hope that you will make a gift to GCEF now during our month-long appeal, ending on November 20. Every gift counts!

Thanks to the generosity our donors, GCEF was able to commit nearly $39,000 during the 2014-15 school year to fund 20 programs, such as Library Connection, Revolutionary War/Colonial Day, School Forest Day, Hudson Valley Seed, Garrison Art Center, Jazz and Percussion Ensembles, K-2 Outdoor Discover Lab and Philadelphia Constitution Center.

GUFS new principal, John Griffiths, has enthusiastically embraced the programs that GCEF makes possible. Along with many other exciting new initiatives that he has implemented since the start of his short tenure, he submitted a grant to GCEF in response to a demand expressed by students, parents and faculty for bolstering outlets for creative play. GCEF was thrilled to partner on the project and approved the grant request for the purchase of Imagination Playground, a 105 piece architectural set for children of all ages to design their own inventions, environments and activities. The set includes bricks, cylinders and parts that suggest motion or connectivity. Delivered sometime in November before the snow falls in earnest, the blocks will add a stimulating new dimension to indoor play this winter.

As we did last year, we will treat the two GUFS classrooms with the highest level of parent participation in the appeal to a pizza party at the end of the drive. A single family gift of any size will cover all of the children a family has at the school. This year donations to the appeal of $25 or greater will qualify students to put their names into the hat for GCEF’s “Principal for a Day” raffle. Principal Griffiths stands at the ready to guide and support the four winning students this spring during this unique experience.

You can donate online, send in a check via backpack mail, or mail checks to GCEF, P.O. Box 262, Garrison, NY 10524.

We need YOU! Thank you for your support!
